About Lin:


Lin Qian was born in Shanghai and spent 10 years (‘98 - ‘08) abroad living in Singapore, France, and the United States. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with high honors (Magna Cum Laude) from Bryn Mawr College, United States. She is a certified translator and interpreter by both CATTI (China Aptitude Test for Translators and Interpreters) and SIA (Shanghai Interpretation Accreditation).

Qian currently works as a freelance translator and voiceover in Shanghai. Since 2009, she has regularly worked with Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre, for whom she translated plays and interpreted for producers, directors, actors, stage managers, etc during preproduction and rehearsal period of international co-production projects, including “Taming of the Shrew”, “Tempest”, “White Snake”, “Spin”, and many others. She has also regularly interpreted during business meetings, press conferences and post-show Q&A sessions.

In 2011, Qian’s projects included: interpretation for Chinese film director Zhang Yimou on film set in Nanjing; press conference and pre-concert speech interpretation for Indian classical music conductor Zubin Mehta at the Shanghai Grand Theatre; interpretation for British music director Martin Lowe during rehearsals of “MAMMA MIA!” the musical’s official mandarin language version.

Meanwhile, Qian channels her soothing voice into developing a successful voiceover career. Her various clients include Rolex, Louis Vuitton, Continental Airlines, and many more. In 2010, she emerged as top 10 winner over nearly 10,000 participants in “Searching for the most beautiful voices of Shanghai” contest hosted by FM 103.7 radio station.
